The Professional Football Hall of Fame opened in 1963, in Canton, where the first American professional football organization was formed. It chronicles, through elegant shrines and other attractions, the great players, coaches, administrators, and referees who have shaped the game with their talent and power. The Hall lies a few miles north of downtown, near Meyers Lake, in a building with a giant, silver football on the roof.
